Ian Vs. Food: Hana Teppanyaki House

When you don't go out to eat very much, the Ian Vs. Food blogs come few and far between.

That doesn't mean I forgot to keep you guys informed. With this round, we're going to take a look at our second Myrtle Beach restaurant, Hana Teppanyaki House. The hibachi-style restaurant at the intersection of Carolina Forest Boulevard and River Oaks has been open a few months, and we finally got ourselves over there to give it a try.

Tuesday Cojones Award

Robert Rescot didn't just throw himself into the lion's den.

He let it get announced to the world. Well, at least the Lawrence (Kan.) Journal-World:

"Robert Rescot is looking for some Kansas University students brave
enough to wear their black and gold colors in the epicenter of enemy
territory.

Top 26 Rankings -- Everyone Will Lose

Another week down in the college football season, another week of a handful of top-26ers dropping the ball.

Maybe this year, more than ever, we'll have that penultimate proof that more than two teams deserve to play in the national title game. But seeing as that has about as much chance of happening as me cliff jumping, we'll just continue to mock the system.

On with this week's poll...

Top 26 Rankings -- A Bite Much Worse Than Their Bark

On Saturday, we learned several things about college football.

First, not every week (sadly enough) will include a top-five team taking a tumble. Second, early season polls are garbage*.

[EDITOR'S NOTE: Please excuse the schizophrenic post from this author. He's confused, considering you're now reading an early season poll. Carry on.]

Do I Get Street Cred For This? Or Is The KB Karma That Strong?

I've tried to tell everyone just how tough the mean streets of Shawnee Mission, Kan., really are. Sure, on the outside, it may appear to be the most suburbany area known to man.

But no one heeded my warnings. Now, death "threats" are flying at my former high school:

A Shawnee Mission Northwest student was arrested at school Thursday morning on suspicion of threatening a teacher, police said.

Dominance -- Pope Style

Today, at 3:04 p.m., the garage had a heavenly glow.

Here's why:

That's right kids. It's a 1,000-piece puzzle of The Pope.*

(*EDITOR'S NOTE: This isn't the former Nazi pope; rather, it's JPII. You know, the lovable one.)

And to make sure His Holiness stays in one piece, John is currently fitting it to cardboard so his spirit continues to grace our bar garage.

The Worst Movies Ever -- On My DVD Shelf

So Rotten Tomatoes did their list of the worst 100 movies of the decade this week.

Now, as most of you know, the house has turned into a DVD junky's wet dream. There are more than 300 movies, courtesy of going-out-of-business sales, the $5 bin at Wal-Mart and the five-for-20 rack at Blockbuster*.

Top 26 Rankings -- Motown Philly Back Again

What got into teams from Philadelphia last weekend?

Temple beats down Buffalo. Penn takes Lafayette to overtime. And, of course, Villanova takes Northeastern behind the woodshed.

Point being: If Florida could move their home games to Philly, Lord Tebow and Co. would score 134 points per game.

On to the rankings...

While not prepping for tonight's Mizzou-Nevada football game, yours truly has actually been pretty busy on the writing front.

Top 26 Rankings -- Get Your Kick On

This week's edition of the Top 26 is dedicated to the best back-up placekicker in college football. How else would you explain another little Texas school's dominance over the years?

ACU doesn't just stand for Army Combat Uniform anymore.

Without further adieu...
