More Questions For Governor Sanford

The news conference wasn't exactly kind to Governor Mark Sanford, who admitted having an affair with a woman in Argentina.

Sanford's PR flacks threw him to the wolves, failing to moderate the media event and leaving the governor attempting to answer three questions at a time. And because of the emotional nature of the news conference, there are plenty of questions left to be answered.

Off the top of my head, here's a list of the questions I'd ask if I had the opportunity with a one-on-one sitdown with the man of the hour (last seven days?).

  1. How much public money did you spend during your trip(s) to Argentina? If you did spend state funds, will you immediately pay that back?
  2. You said you told your wife, Jenny, about the affair prior to this weekend. When did you originally inform her?
  3. At what point did you inform the RGA that you would resign your post?
  4. Was/is there pressure from GOP leadership to resign as governor?
  5. How did you get from the Columbia Airport, where your SLED SUV was parked all weekend to Atlanta? Did someone drive you to Atlanta from there? If you flew to Atlanta, why did your flight plans end in Atlanta on the way home from Argentina?
  6. What is the first step toward redemption for the people of South Carolina?
  7. While a few GOP members of state politics have already backed you, can you have expectations of a logical debate with anyone from here on out without this being mentioned?
  8. Will 2010 mark the end of your political career?
